A/Prof Michael Nguyen is a leading Interventional Cardiologist specialising in complex coronary and structural heart interventions. He is recognised for his expertise in advanced catheter-based procedures and his commitment to improving access to high-quality cardiac care.

A/Prof Nguyen completed his cardiology training in Melbourne, Australia before undertaking advanced fellowship training in interventional cardiology and peripheral vascular interventions at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Centre, Harvard Medical School in Boston, USA.

He is currently an Associate Professor at the University of Western Australia and holds an academic appointment with the University of Notre Dame School of Medicine, where he contributes to teaching and mentoring the next generation of doctors.

His clinical practice focuses on transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) and complex coronary and structural heart procedures, including left atrial appendage occlusion and ASD/PFO closure. He is widely recognised as a clinical leader in these areas across the Asia-Pacific region.

Alongside his clinical work, A/Prof Nguyen has made significant contributions to cardiovascular research and previously served as Head of Clinical Trials in the Department of Cardiology, overseeing numerous important studies investigating emerging cardiovascular therapies.

A/Prof Nguyen is also a co-founder of Access Cardiology and has played a key role in establishing and growing the organisation to improve access to specialist cardiac care and advanced cardiac diagnostics for patients and referring doctors across Western Australia.

A/Prof Nguyen consults privately with Access Cardiology in Albany, Nedlands, Mandurah, Wexford and Cottesloe, where he is committed to providing personalised, evidence-based care for patients with complex cardiovascular conditions.
